We like what Bobby Jindal had to say to the people of Louisiana on Monday in his inaugural speech for his second term of governor. That starts with this:

"They said Louisiana could not possibly shake our reputation for corruption and reform our ethics laws -- but we did.

"They said Louisiana could not create jobs in the midst of the worst national recession in generations -- but we did.

"They said Louisiana could not cut taxes -- but we did. ...

Fair Decision on Medicaid

Louisiana faced a potentially devastating loss of money -- $560 million to $800 million -- if the Obama administration had dropped the state's Medicaid reimbursement rate. It's a relief, then, that the administration has agreed with Sen. Mary Landrieu and Gov. Bobby Jindal that a measure the senator added to the 2010 health overhaul legislation will still apply in 2013. ...

Jindal Enhances State's Child Abuse Reporting Laws

Bobby Jindal issued an executive order one week ago that requires all employees and coaches of a Louisiana public institution of higher learning to report any incident of witnessed child abuse or neglect to law enforcement and a local unit of the Department of Children and Family Services. ...
