Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal stopped in Springhill Tuesday afternoon following visits in Homer and Vivian to address his plans for a “New Louisiana.”
Several members of the community and parish officials attended the community meeting to ask questions and listen to Jindal’s plans.
“With our plan for a new Louisiana, we have been in special sessions to begin discussing ways we can fight corruption,” Jindal said. “Forbes and LSU have both conducted intense studies to try and come up with solutions to mend and prevent economic problems here in Louisiana, and that is to wage war on corruption. We have to make elected officials work for the people, not for themselves.”
Jindal’s plan includes making lobbyists account for every dollar they spend, as to not let any frivolous expenses go unnoticed.
“We are also pleased to report that Louisiana is now the first and best in the country for Federal Disclosure Laws,” Jindal added. “States like Indiana and those up north are looking to us and trying to be like us with our laws that prohibit these lawmakers and officials from spending unwisely.”
Since he has been elected governor, Jindal has vetoed six different taxes, including those on new equipment used for industrial and agricultural purposes.
