Jindal bounces back from payraise debacle

On a day when the Louisiana summer temperature reached 103 degrees, Jindal's visit to Dubach drew a cool standing-room-only crowd of 200-plus, which treated the governor to a standing ovation.
The governor, in his stump uniform of blue blazer, tan slacks and no tie, touted his just-over-six-month record of significant ethics reform and of vetoing $16 million in mostly pork projects.
Jindal has — in fact — picked up scandal-prone Louisiana by the ears like a Catahoula cur dog and shaken it violently, getting good government marks in the process.
In his just over 200 days in office, the first non-white to hold the governor's office since Reconstruction has made historic progress.
